Ten-man Hammers thump Blackpool

West Ham leapfrogged Southampton at the top of the Championship with a 4-1 victory over Blackpool that saw midfielder Henri Lansbury go in goal after Rob Green was sent off. With no goakeeper on the bench, the on-loan Arsenal midfielder donned the keeper's jersey after Green was sent off in the 53rd minute, and he kept Blackpool at bay asWest Ham regained top spot in their seesaw battle with the Saints. Two goals in four minutes from James Tomkins and Nicky Maynard saw the visitors take control of the match, but the evergreen Kevin Phillips clawed one back for Blackpool on the stroke of half-time. The match was in the balance when Green was given his marching orders for a foul on Roman Bednar, but goals from Gary O'Neil and Ricard Vaz Te secured an impressive win for Sam Allardyce's side. Keith Fahey scored his first goal since August as ruthless Birmingham stretched their unbeaten run to 16 games to move up to third as Barnsley were brushed aside 3-1 at Oakwell. Chris Burke set the ball rolling with an early opener which was deflected in off Tykes skipper Rob Edwards and the impressive Fahey was also on target in the first half after Barnsley's leading scorer Craig Davies' 10th goal of the season had brought the home side level. Substitute Nathan Redmond sealed the points for Chris Hughton's side with a third goal after great work from Fahey and Burke to leave Blues five points behind second-placed Southampton with a game in hand and on a run of five consecutive away wins. Marvin Emnes scored twice as Middlesbrough won 3-1 at Millwall to keep their promotion bid on track. The goal the visitors had been threatening since kick-off duly arrived in the 14th minute from a Barry Robson corner. The unmarked Rhys Williams hooked the ball back towards goal from the corner of the six-yard box and Emnes deflected it past the unsighted Forde. Emnes collected Robson's pass 35 yards out, skipped past Harry Kane's challenge on the edge of the area and thumped a superb low shot past Forde soon after to make it 2-0. But five minutes later Millwall, who had not managed a single effort on goal, suddenly grabbed a lifeline.

Scott Barron floated a free-kick into the area, Liam Trotter nodded it back across goal and Henderson looped his header over Steele and into the net. Yet Boro wrapped up the points four minutes from time when Julio Arca crossed and teenager Main crashed a powerful shot past Forde and high into the net for his first Boro goal.
