Bayern hopeful over Robben

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge remains confident Arjen Robben will agree a contract extension.

• Gladbach hopeful over Dante
• Robben: Selfishness is a quality
• Nerlinger issues title warning
• Bayern agree Shaqiri deal
• Schweini to miss several weeks

Robben, 28, became a key player for Bayern when joining from Real Madrid in 2009, but he has suffered with a string of injuries and has recently been criticised by both Franz Beckenbauer and Mario Basler for being a selfish player.

With his current deal expiring in 2013, there have been suggestions that Robben could be offloaded in the summer - particularly after the news that Basel winger Xherdan Shaqiri would join the club - but Rummenigge expects the Netherlands international to remain at the Allianz Arena.

"I'm not pessimistic," he told kicker. "We will find a solution."

Rummenigge also suggested Bayern midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger deserves comparison with Barcelona duo Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

"He enjoys great respect from us. Until his injury, he was playing brilliantly," he said. "I don't see a big difference between Bastian, Xavi and Iniesta."
