Glory re-sign Burns and Mehmet to A-League

Perth Glory skipper Jacob Burns and striker Billy Mehmet have re-signed with the A-League club for a further two years.

Burns, a former Socceroo whose overseas career also included a stint at Leeds United, has been one of the Glory's most consistent performers over the past three years.

The 33-year-old midfielder won the club's most valuable player award last season and has played a key role in helping lift the Glory into fourth spot on the table ahead of Saturday's home clash with Newcastle Jets.

Mehmet was a mainstay in the starting XI earlier this season, but has been forced to ply his trade off the bench in recent times with coach Ian Ferguson opting to play Shane Smeltz as a lone striker.
