Kaka left out of Brazil squad

Mano Menezes has omitted several big-name players, including Real Madrid's Kaka, from Brazil's squad for this month's friendly with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kaka received a recall to the national team for Brazil's last two games against Gabon and Egypt in November before a calf injury forced him to pull out of the squad.

When pressed on the issue, Menezes suggested he was not happy with Kaka's club form.

"I don't have an explanation for all the players who didn't make the squad," Menezes said. "I really respect Kaka but this is a matter of an opinion. Perhaps his recent performances didn't convince me."

Maicon, Lucio, Robinho and Alexandre Pato were also overlooked, along with Manchester United duo Rafael and Fabio, while Benfica's Luisao and Chelsea's David Luiz retained their places on the 23-man squad.

Brazil: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Diego Alves (Valencia), Rafael (Santos), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Daniel Alves, Adriano (both Barcelona), Alex Sandro (Porto), Thiago Silva (AC Milan), David Luiz (Chelsea), Luisao (Benfica), Dede (Vasco da Gama), Danilo (Porto), Elias (Sporting), Fernandinho (Shakhtar Donetsk), Hernanes (Lazio), Sandro (Tottenham Hotspur), Paulo Henrique Ganso (Santos), Lucas (Sao Paulo), Ronaldinho (Flamengo), Neymar (Santos), Leandro Damiao (Internacional), Jonas (Valencia), Hulk (Porto)
