Cousin set to seal Gers return

Veteran striker Daniel Cousin is expected to complete his return to Rangers on Friday, with his agent confirming a deal has been agreed with the Scottish Premier League club.

• Bedoya backs Celic

Cousin spent the 2007-08 season at Rangers, and the 35-year-old Gabon international was apparently so keen to finish his career at Ibrox he turned down a more lucrative offer from Birmingham City.

"I've just spoken with Craig Whyte and we have reached agreement on Daniel's wages," his agent Willie McKay told the Daily Record.

"Daniel wants it, Ally McCoist wants it, so we've all had to do our bit to push this deal over the line. The lad is happy to come back but they have offered him 25 % of the last contract he was on at Rangers and that is £5,000 a week.

"That is a lot less than he stood to make at Birmingham but money was not the key issue. Daniel can get himself £20,000 a week at Birmingham but Rangers on his CV for a last contract sounded quite good to him."

Rangers are in desperate need of reinforcement up front, with Kyle Lafferty out with a hamstring injury and Nikica Jelavic having left for Everton in the January transfer window.
