No Bayern move for Vertonghen - agent

Bayern Munich have not contacted Ajax about the availability of defender Jan Vertonghen, according to the player's agent.

• Chivu agent quells Bayern rumours

Vertonghen, 24, has impressed for Ajax in recent years, particularly as the Dutch giants ended their seven-year wait for an Eredivise title last season.

And with Bayern keen to bolster their defensive options in the summer, Vertonghen's name has been mentioned in conjunction with the Bavarians in the Dutch and German press.

However, the Belgian international's agent Marjolein Nakhli insists that talk of the Bundesliga outfit making a swoop is nothing more than conjecture at present.

"They have not contacted us," Nakhli told Goal.com. "It's not the first time that I hear something about this, but I can't do much with it at this point."

Nakhli did, though, claim that "there is plenty of interest from abroad" for Vertonghen, who came through the Ajax youth academy before making his debut in 2006.

"The English and German press have written stories like this before," Nakhli said. "Things will only get serious when a club approach Ajax though, and that has not happened yet as far as I know.

"However, I can reveal that there is plenty of interest from abroad."
