Emerton back for Sydney FC
Sydney FC have received a much-needed boost with marquee player Brett Emerton cleared to make his A-League return from injury against Perth at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday night.
Emerton missed the Sky Blues' embarrassing 5-2 thumping at the hands of Newcastle on Sunday with a hamstring injury.
The former Blackburn English Premier League midfielder has battled a hamstring strain this season and suffered a recurrence of the problem in the 2-2 draw against Melbourne Victory on Australia Day.
The Sky Blues will have to do battle without captain Terry McFlynn, who misses the match through suspension, leaving the door open for youngsters Mitchell Mallia and Joel Chianese, who made an impressive A-League debut off the bench against Newcastle.
Sydney dropped out of the top six for the first time this season as the Jets took sixth spot.
It happened just two days after the Sky Blues announced coach Vitezslav Lavicka would be leaving at the end of the season.
