Tevez set to make return from exile

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici claims AWOL Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is always welcome to join the club as the 27-year-old prepares to end his absence from football.

• Tevez appeal ruling due ASAP

Tevez, who this week lodged an appeal with the Premier League against his £1.2 million club-imposed fine, has been in Argentina without the permission of City since last November.

The former Corinthians man is now set to play in a testimonial match for Boca star Martin Palermo this Saturday, prompting Angelici to suggest the Buenos Aires club would be willing to give Tevez further game time ahead of any potential summer transfer.

"If Tevez arrives for free then we would be happy to have him," Angelici told Todo Noticias. "If Manchester City call us and say that they need him to play games, our doors are always open."

Tevez has not played since failing to warm-up during a Champions League clash at Bayern Munich last September, but is prepared to end his exile for good friend Palermo, saying: "I wouldn't miss this celebration for anything."

South America now appears Tevez's most likely transfer destination after moves to AC Milan, Inter and Paris St Germain were scuppered during the now-closed January window. However, despite Corinthians and Boca showing interest, neither of Tevez's former employers have yet been able to match City's valuation of the player.
