Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has failed in his appeal against a charge of violent conduct following an incident in the FA Cup fourth round match at Brighton.
Cabaye, 26, was retrospectively charge by the Football Association after appearing to deliberately kick out at Brighton defender Adam El-Abd at the Amex Stadium.
The France international contested the FA charge but the ban was upheld, meaning he will miss Newcastle's next three matches starting with Wednesday night's match against Blackburn.
Cabaye, who joined Newcastle from Lille for £4.8 million last summer, will also be absent for the upcoming matches against Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Reacting to the verdict, Cabaye wrote on his official Twitter account: "3 matchs ban it's a real injustice but life goes on !!! In my teammates i trust ...''
