Man City in Pizarro talks

Manchester City are embroiled in negotiations to sign Roma's attacking midfielder David Pizarro on loan.

Bridge set for Sunderland medical

Pizarro, who is also a target for Juventus, is on his way to Eastlands to trash out a deal with Roberto Mancini's side.

Serie A side Roma are happy to do deal for the Chilean that includes a £1 million option to make the move permamant at the end of the season.

Roma general director Franco Baldini said: "For our transfer market, I would say that there will be no surprises, we're just trying to close with City for Pizarro. We are looking at a loan, we hope to reach an agreement by tonight."

Pizarro's agent later revealed the player would fly to England on Tuesday afternoon to complete the deal.

"We will fly to England at 1400 hours (today),'' Giuseppe Bozzo told www.asromanews.it. "The problems relating to a work permit have been resolved and Manchester City will ask for a dispensation regarding his national team appearances.''

Mancini, who coached Pizarro at Inter Milan, sees the 32-year-old's ability to play in central midfield or just behind the strikers as an ideal way of boosting City's title bid.
