Espanyol complete Coutinho loan

Espanyol have signed Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho on loan for the remainder of the Primera Division campaign.

• Ranieri hopeful of Motta stay

Coutinho, 19, was a member of the Brazil team that won last year's Under-20 world title and has been capped once by the senior side, and he arrives at a time when the league's fifth-placed team are without injured striker Alvaro Vazquez and midfielder Sergio Garcia.

Coutinho said he hopes "to help the club to enter the Champions League" and is "very happy to be joining a great club and a great team".

Espanyol have also signed Nigerian striker Kalu Uche from Swiss club Neuchatel on a deal which commits the former Almeria forward to the club until the end of next season.
