Ivory Coast and Sudan progress

Emmanuel Eboue and Bony Wilfried scored the goals as Ivory Coast beat Angola 2-0 in their Group B clash in the African Nations Cup.

Eboue gave Ivory Coast the lead when he slid in at the far post to score on the half hour and Wilfried doubled the advantage when he punished a mix-up in defence 30 minutes later.

The win ensured Ivory Coast maintained their 100% record as they finished top of Group B to set up a quarter-final meeting with hosts Equatorial Guinea.

Angola, though, went out of the competition as they finished with a worse goal difference than Sudan, who were 2-1 winners over Burkina Faso.

Sudan went into the game needing to win and for Angola to lose - with at least a three-goal swing - if they were to qualify, and Eltaib Mudather's brace proved enough, the striker scoring once in each half, as they progressed in second place.

Having seen goalkeeper Najem Abdullah suffer a serious injury in the early stages as he made a save at the feet of Jonathan Pitroipa, Sudan rallied to take the lead in the 33rd minute - just as Ivory Coast had gone ahead in the group's other match.

Bony Wilfried's goal for the Ivorians then gave Sudan a further boost, and they then extended their advantage on goal difference when Mudather made it 2-0 with ten minutes remaining. Ouedraogo grabbed a consolation goal for Burkina Faso, heading home Pitroipa's long ball deep into stoppage time, but it was not enough to deny Sudan their qualification.
