PSG edge Brest, Roux enjoys Lille bow

Milan Bisevac's early goal proved enough for Paris Saint-Germain to maintain their three-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 with a 1-0 victory at Brest.

The Serbia centre-back converted Christophe Jallet's corner in the sixth minute, and the visitors almost doubled their lead four minutes before the break when Mathieu Bodmer hit the bar. In the end though one goal proved enough to keep Montpellier at arm's length.

Olivier Giroud made up for a missed penalty with a fine last-minute winner to hand Montpellier a 1-0 win and three important points at Nice, keeping his side in touch with Ligue 1 leaders Paris St Germain.

With only seconds remaining Giroud, who missed from the spot after half an hour, beat Nice's outstanding goalkeeper David Ospina with a 20-yard strike. Ospina moved well to get hands on the goalbound shot but could not cling on and instead saw the ball loop over the line.

Late goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Alexandre Lacazette gave Lyon a 3-1 win against Dijon, although the scoreline does not tell the whole story of a tight Ligue 1 encounter.

Dijon missed an early penalty and also struck the post with the scoreline 1-1, before the home side finished strongest at Stade de Gerland.

Daniel Niculae scored twice as Nancy went above Auxerre with a much-needed 3-1 win in the battle to escape relegation from Ligue 1.

Niculae netted twice in the second half, after Yohan Mollo had opened the scoring, to ease Nancy's relegation fears at the expense of their hosts.

Edouard Cisse scored late on for the home side but by then it was no more than a consolation. The AJA fans protested after the defeat, some of them hitting the home team dugout to show their anger at their side going from the Champions League last season to battling against relegation this time around.

Nolan Roux bagged a brace on his Lille debut to seal a 3-1 victory for the Ligue 1 champions against St Etienne.

Eden Hazard broke the deadlock with a 50th-minute penalty after a goalless first half at the Stade Lille-Metropole, before Roux took centre-stage in the final five minutes. The 23-year-old, who signed from Brest earlier this week, grabbed two goals in as many minutes to put the result beyond doubt. The win kept third-placed LOSC seven points behind PSG.

Sochaux's search for a win goes on - but Cedric Bakambu's equaliser 10 minutes from time against Lorient gives them hope in their quest to end their slump down the Ligue 1 table.

Alaixys Romao looked set to continue the misery for the visitors when he opened the scoring for Lorient just past the hour mark at Stade du Moustoir - but Bakambu's eye-catching goal averted a fifth successive defeat for Les Lionceaux, securing a 1-1 draw.

Emmanuel Riviere's scrappy first-half strike earned Toulouse a narrow 1-0 victory over Caen at the Stadium Municipal this evening.

The France Under-21 forward netted the game's only goal 10 minutes before half-time following a scramble in the visitors' box. The result kept TFC in contention for Europa League qualification and left Caen only one point clear of the relegation zone.
