Rangers move within a point of Bhoys

Rangers cut the gap to SPL leaders Celtic to just one point with a 4-0 victory over Hibernian at Ibrox.

The hosts, who were without the ill Nikica Jelavic as he continues to be linked with a move to England, took the lead when captain Steven Davis curled past Mark Brown.

David Healy put his hand up to replace Jelavic as he added the second, tapping into an empty net following a mix-up in the Hibernian defence.

Hibs were reduced to ten men when James McPake was shown a second yellow, shortly before Sone Aluko added a third with a long-range free-kick. Davis completed the scoring in injury time.

Celtic play against Falkirk on Sunday for the right to face Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup final.

Motherwell maintained their status as the closest challengers to the Old Firm, recording a 3-2 victory over St Johnstone at Fir Park. Henrik Ojamaa was on target twice for the hosts - one either side of Jody Morris' equaliser - before Keith Lasley restored Motherwell's two-goal cushion. Fran Sandaza scored from the penalty spot to ensure a nervy fish - but 'Well held on.

A howler from Dunfermline Athletic goalkeeper Iain Turner allowed Aberdeen's Scott Vernon to score the only goal of the game at Pittodrie - a result that keeps the Pars bottom of the table.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle were held to a 0-0 draw at home to St Mirren.
