Inter pull plug on Tevez deal

Inter Milan have announced they are no longer interested in signing want-away Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

• Tevez fued with City to cost him £9.3m
• PSG end Carlos Tevez talks

The Nerazzurri have been embroiled in ongoing transfer talks with City over the past few weeks but have now ruled themselves out of a potential deal, as have big spending French club Paris Saint-Germain.

Inter Milan board member Marco Tronchetti Provera told Ansa: "Now we're no longer interested in Tevez. He is following a different path.

"Inter have recovered their champions and there is no need to have him or another, even if Tevez remains a great champion."

With Inter and PSG both calling a halt to their pursuit of Tevez, AC Milan are the only remaining suitors for the AWOL Argentina striker.

However, with City demanding near £30 million and the Rossoneri only seeking a loan deal, with a view to a permanent move, City's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said that a move to Milan "isn't an option."

In an interview with The National in Abu Dhabi, Mubarak added: "[AC Milan vice-president] Mr. Galliani and his advisors have developed a misplaced sense of confidence from their premature discussions with Carlos and his advisors. If they want to be a consideration in this transfer window they would do better to stop congratulating one another and begin to look at how they would meet our terms."

There is now a very real possibility of Tevez remaining a City player, despite being hit with a staggering £9.3 million in fines and withdrawn loyalty payments.
