Bleiberg sees season flushed away

Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg declared his A-League team's season "down the toilet" as he partly blamed an emergency bathroom stop for a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Sydney FC on Sunday night.

The Sky Blues came from behind at the Sydney Football Stadium to register their first A-League win in seven games, with Bruno Cazarine's 89th-minute header proving the difference.

Bleiberg pointed to his side being much younger and inexperienced compared to Sydney after the loss, which left United languishing in last spot.

But he also was left to rue a stomach ailment to impressive defender Ante Rozic, who was forced off the field with 10 minutes remaining for an emergency toilet stop.

Cazarine outmuscled Rozic's replacement, Dylan McGowan, before heading home the winner and Bleiberg felt it was difference.

"It is the season down the toilet," Bleiberg said.

"Ante Rozic was unbeaten in the air and he was a tower of strength and 10 minutes before the end he had to take a toilet break and I put Dylan McGowan in.

"It was a duel between an experienced striker and a young player ... I believe if Rozic is still there they don't get the goal.

"Ante was in the toilet and the goal was scored ... it's a toilet season, however you want to look at it.

"One in the toilet and one goal in the back of the net ... that's our luck this season."

With nine of United's 15 squad members 21 or under, Bleiberg said Gold Coast were a "team of the future".
