Namibia ANC appeal rejected

Burkina Faso will compete in the African Nations Cup later this month after Namibia's appeal to get them thrown out was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

CAS rejected the Namibian Football Association's claim that Burkina Faso fielded an ineligible player against them during qualifying for the tournament last year.

The Swiss court dismissed Namibia's appeal over the eligibility of Cameroon-born defender Herve Zengue, who was given a five-year passport from Burkina Faso last March.

Namibia turned to CAS after taking their case unsuccessfully to first the African Nations Cup Committee and then the Confederation of African Football Appeal Board.

A CAS statement read: ''The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rendered its decision in the arbitration between the Namibia Football Association and the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF): the CAS has dismissed the appeal of the Namibia FA and has confirmed the decision of the CAF Appeal Board dated 24 November 2011.''
