U.S. international Geoff Cameron signs new Stoke City contract - sources

U.S. international defender Geoff Cameron has signed a new deal at Stoke City, sources have told ESPN FC.

Cameron, 29, has established himself as a key member of the Stoke squad since joining from MLS side Houston Dynamo in 2012.

The versatile performer is also a regular in Jurgen Klinsmann's U.S. national team and figured for his country at last summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.

Cameron's previous deal was due to expire next summer, but Stoke have moved to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

The defender has made over 100 appearances for the Potters and is a big fans' favourite at the Britannia Stadium.

Cameron was a virtual ever-present in his first two seasons at Stoke, and though he has seen this campaign interrupted by a hernia problem, he has still made 30 appearances in the side.

News of Cameron's deal will come as a welcome boost for Stoke boss Mark Hughes as he looks to build on this season's successful campaign, with the Potters claiming a top-10 finish and recording their highest ever Premier League points tally.
