M'Vila move nears completion

Rennes expect Yann M'Vila to have left the club before the weekend, though the French international midfielder's final destination is yet to be resolved with a mystery English club joining the race to sign him.

Yann M'Vila is said to be attracting interest from an array of top clubs across Europe
Yann M'Vila is set to leave Rennes by the weekend.

M'Vila, 22, started last weekend's Ligue 1 game against Bastia on the bench, only coming off it as a consequence of an injury to a team-mate, and will no longer be with the club when Marseille arrive in Brittany on Saturday, despite talks with prospective buyers dragging on.

"It's complicated. I'm still in negotiations. It's not progressing with the clubs. There's no agreement. There are the payment deadlines and all that to discuss. I hope we'll strike a deal during the evening, during the night," Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi told RMC radio. "In any case, M'Vila is going to leave. It'll be finished before Saturday's game."

Russian club Rubin Kazan currently lead the race to sign M'Vila after upping their offer for the French international to €11.5 million, some €1.5 million more than Rennes had hoped to receive, according to L'Equipe.

Rubin do have competition though. Dreossi admitted having "a long meeting" with Queens Park Rangers representatives on Monday evening, but added: "I think they're going to pull out. I haven't heard from them since." He revealed, however, another Premier League side have made a bid for M'Vila, who has also been linked to both Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

"A new offer arrived a little while ago from England. It could be interesting, but I'm talking to Rubin Kazan right now. It's not Newcastle."

Dreossi said M'Vila was talking to Rubin officials on Tuesday to thrash out personal terms on a four-year contract worth an initial €4 million after tax annually. "I'm waiting to hear from the player so I can conclude negotiations," Dreossi added.
