Real coach Clement eyes job as No. 1

Real Madrid's English assistant coach Paul Clement has said he is ready to leave the Bernabeu as he looks to prove himself as a manager.

- Brewin: Bale delivers when it matters
- Train: A Decima 12 years in the making

Clement, who has worked with coach Carlo Ancelotti since the Italian spent two years in charge of Chelsea between 2009 and 2011, also working with him at Paris Saint-Germain.

And after watching Real win their 10th European Cup with a 4-1 victory over Atletico Madrid after extra time in Saturday's Champions League final, he said he was keen to test himself further.

"I think the time for me to be a No. 1 is soon," the Mirror quoted the 42-year-old as saying. "A few opportunities have come my way, but this is a difficult place to leave.

"It's a great club, a great city, a great tradition, and it gives you the opportunity to win things.

"I'm not ruling anything out. It's more than likely it will be in England -- but if a nice opportunity came up in another country, I wouldn't rule it out."

He said working with Ancelotti had "given me a lot of confidence and given me the belief that one day I can do it," adding: "But he hasn't kicked me out of the door just yet."
