Marca had a photo of the “now and then Ramos” on its cover on Thursday, showing how time has passed since his debut for Sevilla against Deportivo La Coruna in 2004.

The Spain international has made over 350 appearances for Madrid since joining from Sevilla for 27 million euros in the summer of 2005, winning the Liga title and Copa del Rey with the Bernabeu club.

And Ramos, 27, responded to a question from the paper about playing for another decade by saying he felt good enough to keep going for many more years.

“It is true that these [years] have passed very quickly for me because I have enjoyed myself a lot, but you never know,” he said.

“What I can say is that I get up every day really excited. The day I do not have that, I will start to get worried. While the body holds up, the fans want me, and my teammates feel the need for Sergio Ramos to be bringing positive things to the group, you can keep trying. I do not know about so much time… but for me why not?”

The Andalucian, who has won the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships while amassing over 100 caps for Spain, said he was not too different from the youngster who had made his debut for his hometown club.

“What remains of that kid from Sevilla is the motivation and desire to keep improving,” he said. “I believe I still have that, day to day.

"I get up every day with a smile, just as I did when I joined Madrid in 2005. Then I was the kid who was coming to eat up the world, looking forward to achieving great challenges. I could say today that I have achieved many of these but, obviously, I am not going to settle for just that. I want to keep exceeding myself.”
