Rakitic to discuss new Sevilla deal

Sevilla playmaker Ivan Rakitic, a reported target for Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, has said he plans to discuss a new contract with the club before he makes any decision about his future.

Ivan Rakitic saw an equaliser controversially disallowed during Sevilla's defeat at the Camp Nou.
Rakitic has 18 months left on his current deal.

Speculation about a move has been rife as Rakitic has 18 months left on his current deal and Sevilla’s perilous financial situation means they could decide to cash in on him.

PSG are thought to be leading the chase for the Croatia international, who played in the Europa League for Sevilla this summer but would be available to play in the Champions League should he move this January.

Rakitic, 25, told Sevilla’s official website: “There is nothing new to say -- we have all been on holidays. I have not been on the mobile, just letting the days pass.

“We are going to sit down, we will talk and then we will see what we can do. Everyone knows that I am always excited about training and playing games, being around the city -- they know that I enjoy life here, and it is really nice to be a part of Sevilla.”

Rakitic has notched up an impressive seven goals and six assists in 15 La Liga games this season, and was made club captain last summer when previous senior men including Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo were sold to raise money to help pay off the club’s debts.

In December, Sevilla’s new club president Jose Castro said Rakitic would only leave the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan if his 40 million euro release clause was paid.
