Sociedad in for Jonathan Dos Santos

After losing Asier Illarramendi to Real Madrid this summer, Real Sociedad are eager to bring in another talented young holding midfielder, Jonathan Dos Santos.

The younger of the Dos Santos brothers is still with Barcelona B, where he’s been waiting for his chance to break into the first team. However, playing time has been limited and the Mexican was restricted to just six appearances for Tito Vilanova’s side last season, five times as a substitute and just once as a starter.

It’s expected that, like Rafinha Alcantara who signed for Celta Vigo on loan this week, Dos Santos will leave the club in search of minutes in Spain’s top flight.

According to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo, the 23-year-old is desperate to leave the Catalan club and sign for la Real, where he’d play alongside his compatriot Carlos Vela.

The Spanish paper claims that the transfer could hit a stumbling block, with the Catalan club preferring to sell their La Masia graduate and Real Sociedad keen to take the midfielder on loan.

However with €38 million in the bank following the sale of Illarramendi, and with Dos Santos’s determination to move to Anoeta, the deal could be pushed through this week.
