Barca’s Rafinha set for Celta loan
Rafinha Alcantara is set to spend next season on loan at Celta Vigo after signing a new three-year contract at Barcelona.
Rafinha, the younger brother of reported Manchester United target Thiago, had been in the final 12 months of his Camp Nou deal and reportedly interested Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
But Barcelona said a new contract, including a €30 million buy-out clause, had been agreed with the forward, who often played the ‘false nine’ role for Barca B last term.
“FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Rafael Alcantara, Rafinha, to extend the player's contract through to June 30 2016,” a statement on the club’s official website said.
Widespread reports in the Spanish press claim he is now set to join up with ex-Barca B coach Luis Enrique at Celta.
The next young Barca player to improve his contract could be Cristian Tello, with talks reportedly planned even though the winger signed a new deal only last December , keeping him at the Camp Nou until June 2016.
Blaugrana sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta wants to renegotiate the contract to include a release clause better reflecting Tello's quality and potential, but no negotiations have yet been scheduled.
A report in AS said the proposed new deal included a €10 million release clause which would rise to €14 million after he has played 40 first team games and €18 million after 50.
Tello, 21, has played 37 games, giving suitors - who reportedly include Liverpool and Tottenham - an extra incentive to move quickly if they want to sign him.
Meanwhile, reports in Belgium claim Barca have agreed a €2.5 million fee to sell 23-year-old squad midfielder Jonathan dos Santos to Anderlecht.
