Sought-after Rami may stay at Valencia

France international defender Adil Rami has suggested his future could lie at Valencia despite being strongly linked with a move away from La Mestalla.

Rami wants to get back into the French team

Reports have suggested that both Arsenal and Anzhi Makhachkala are interested in signing Rami, 27, who is under contract until 2015.

But he told Canal+ that both he and the club are happy with the status quo, saying: "There's an offer from Valencia to extend my contract, and I feel good here.

“The most important thing for me is to be a first-team regular, which is not the case for all my rivals for a place in the French national team."

Rami has been sidelined by a thigh tear suffered last month, and said he faced a struggle to be back for his country's World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain later this month.

"It's touch and go,” he explained. “The [Valencia] staff wanted me to try and come back to play Bilbao [on 10 March], but I prefer to take my time

“We have several centre-backs, I'm not the only one, and we're battling for two places in the French side."

Rami's injury will also deny him the opportunity to return to France as Valencia meet Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The defender scored his team's goal in a 2-1 first-leg defeat, and said: "I've got nothing against Paris. If they lose against us, it'll be a massive crisis.

“Having said that, anything can happen with that team. Before playing us, they were mediocre but then played exactly how they needed to. In big games, they manage to raise their game."
