Mino Raiola plays down links to Barcelona's Xavi Simons

Mino Raiola was present at Barcelona's training ground on Sunday to watch Xavi Simons play amid reports he is looking to add the Netherlands youth international to his roster.

Raiola has Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti among others on his books and is considered one of the most powerful agents in football, perhaps only second to Jorge Mendes.

Simons, who is still just 14, is rated as one of the brightest prospects coming through Barca's academy at the moment.

"What does it matter if I am his agent?" the Italian-born Dutch agent told Mundo Deportivo when asked if he was working with Simons after watching him play seated alongside his father, Regillio.

"Xavi Simons is a great player, young, with potential and a big future. We're good friends.

"Am I his advisor? It's better to be a friend than an advisor, believe me. Honestly, I am friends with all the players that I represent."

Regillio himself is a former professional footballer, who until recently had been working with the academy at Ajax.

However, he gave that up to focus solely on the future of his son, who was named after Barca legend Xavi Hernandez and was picked up by the Catalan club at the age of seven in Alicante, where the family had relocated from the Netherlands.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the teenage midfielder.
