Ronaldinho to feature as Barcelona take on Real Madrid in legends match

Ronaldinho will play for Barcelona in a legends match against Real Madrid, the Catalan club confirmed on Friday.

Barca Legends will play a team of former Madrid players on Apr. 28 at the Camille Chamoun Sports City stadium, in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.

The announcement comes after the Blaugrana confirmed earlier this week they would play a game against Manchester United Legends at Camp Nou on June 30, with a return fixture at Old Trafford in September.

Managed by former player Jose Mari Bakero, Barca Legends have only previously played once before, last year against a group of former Mexican footballers in Queretaro.

Among the players to play that day were Hristo Stoichkov, Vitor Baia, Edmilson, Gheorghe Popescu, Ronald de Boer and Gaizka Mendieta.

However, other than Ronaldinho, there has been no confirmation of who will play against Madrid in Lebanon.

Brazil legend Ronaldinho reached an agreement with Barcelona to return to the club in an ambassador role last month.

Part of that role includes forming part of the Legends project which Barca hope will help to globalise the club's brand and its values.

Barca foresee the holding of different games and the organisation of parallel events in different places around the world in the future, with further Legends matches to be announced soon.
