Granada sack manager Paco Jemez after just six games

Granada have dismissed coach Paco Jemez after the club's worst start to a season since the 1944-45 campaign.

Granada are 19th in La Liga after having taken just two points from their opening six games.

A club statement read: "After studying in detail the actual situation and the results achieved, this decision has been unanimously taken.

"Paco Jemez will give today his last training session in charge of Granada and will give a news conference at 14:45pm. From this afternoon onwards the first team will be temporarily guided by Granada B coach Lluis Planaguma, with whom the club has complete confidence."

Jemez had accepted after Monday's 3-1 defeat at Alaves that his position was on the line.

"If it continues like this, the management will run out of patience," he told Cadena Ser on Tuesday evening.

Jemez, who only joined the Andalusian club on a three-year deal this summer after four years as Rayo Vallecano coach, managed to get a point in Granada's season-opening 1-1 draw with Villarreal.

However, he accepted complete blame for his team's embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Las Palmas and offered to stand down.

The new manager added 12 new players in this transfer window -- funded by the club's new owners Chinese firm Link International Sports -- including attacking midfielder Jeremie Boga, who joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Granada host Leganes on Saturday on the back of two straight defeats.
