Barcelona hit five in rout; Real Madrid suffer late draw vs. Las Palmas

Barcelona scored twice in three first-half minutes to set up a 5-0 victory over Sporting Gijon at El Molinon.

The Liga champions had come close through Andre Gomes shortly before the half-hour -- but two minutes later they were ahead when Luis Suarez beat goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar to an Arda Turan pass and within three minutes Rafinha had doubled the lead.

Sporting's hopes of getting anything disappeared when Alberto Lora was sent off for a second booking, and three more goals in the closing stages from Neymar (two) and Turan wrapped up a comfortable win.

Real Madrid were held for the second La Liga game in a row as Las Palmas twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw in Gran Canaria.

Zinedine Zidane's men had seen their club-record run of 16 straight La Liga wins ended at home to Villarreal in midweek and their lead at the top has now been cut to one point, with Barcelona having beaten Sporting Gijon 5-0 earlier on Saturday.

Marco Asensio gave Real a 33rd-minute lead but Tana quickly cancelled it out to leave the teams level at the break.

Substitute Karim Benzema fired in a rebound to restore Real's lead in the 67th minute but Las Palmas' encouraging start to the season continued as Sergio Araujo took advantage of a lucky ricochet to level with five minutes left.

Athletic Bilbao ended Sevilla's unbeaten start in LaLiga with a 3-1 victory at San Mames.

Mikel San Jose bundled them ahead in the first half, but Samir Nasri's first goal since joining Sevilla on loan from Manchester City drew the visitors level after the break.

Athletic regained the lead with a cracking strike from left-back Mikel Balenziaga, his first goal in 161 LaLiga matches, and Aritz Aduriz added a third from the penalty spot in the final minute after Sevilla goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu was sent off for elbowing him in the back.

Bebe scored a spectacular half-volley as Eibar beat 10-man local rivals Real Sociedad 2-0 in LaLiga.

The former Manchester United forward slammed home from 25 yards in the 66th minute at Ipurua Municipal Stadium after Asier Illarramendi's own goal had put the hosts ahead nine minutes earlier.

After an uneventful opening, Sociedad's game plan was undone with 24 minutes played when defender Aritz Elustondo handled Bebe's goalbound header and was shown a straight red card by referee Jose Sanchez.

Pedro Leon, who scored three times in the opening five games of the season, stepped up to take the resultant penalty but skied woefully over Geronimo Rulli's crossbar.
