Dani Parejo scored a last-gasp penalty as manager-less Valencia beat previously undefeated Alaves 2-1 at the Mestalla to pick up their first points of the season. Victor Laguardia's 28th-minute own goal put Valencia ahead but Los Che, under the guidance of caretaker coach Voro Gonzalez following the sacking of Pako Ayestaran earlier in the week, were pegged back just before the break by Gaizka Toquero's header. That looked set to be the end of the scoring when, with two minutes left on the clock, Valencia were awarded a penalty after Zakaria Bakkali was fouled by Marcos Llorente in the area. Veteran midfielder Parejo took responsibility and he sent Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco the wrong way from the spot to hand Valencia -- who started the match at the bottom of the table following four successive defeats -- their first win. The victory lifts Valencia up to 18th place, with Osasuna dropping to the foot of the standings after losing 2-1 at home to Espanyol on Thursday. Leo Baptistao's first-half header for the visitors was cancelled out by Sergio Leon's 68th-minute equaliser, but Gerard Moreno struck what would prove to be the winner four minutes later to give Espanyol their first victory. The night's other game also finished 2-1, with Leganes bouncing back from their 5-1 home defeat to Barcelona by coming from behind to beat Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor. Celso Borges had fired the home side in front as they bossed the first half, but it was a different story after the break and two headed goals in six minutes from Brazilians Luciano and Gabriel swung the game in Leganes' favour.
