Germany goalkeeping coach Andreas Kopke believes Marc-Andre ter Stegen is doing an "outstanding job" in a "difficult situation" at Barcelona.
Ter Stegen, 23, joined Barcelona from his boyhood club Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014. He won the Treble in his first season at the Camp Nou, but only played in the cup competitions as Chile international Claudio Bravo stood in goal in La Liga.
In his second year at the club, ter Stegen's situation has not changed, only featuring in La Liga during the opening stages of the season.
"It's clear that the situation for him is difficult," Germany goalkeeping coach Kopke told kicker on Tuesday.
"But especially in the games of the second half of the season he carries it off well. To prove yourself on the top level right on the money without having the rhythm is also a demanding challenge for the mind. He does an outstanding job solving it."
In recent months, ter Stegen, one of four keepers currently competing for the two places in Germany's European Championship squad behind Manuel Neuer, has been linked with a switch away from Barcelona.
Kopke has said his current situation at Barca could lead him to leaving the Camp Nou.
He said: "They have opted for this model for now, and they can't complain. Even though both keepers apparently are not that satisfied with it."
Late last week, ter Stegen also called his situation at Barcelona "difficult."
He told Sport1: "It's difficult because you don't have the rhythm you'd like to have. It's my goal to play more often. Should the situation remain like it is now, you'd have to talk at some point. In the long run, it's difficult for a keeper of my age."
However, ter Stegen refused to comment on the rumours linking him with Liverpool.
He said: "I don't busy myself with other teams, the situation is just not there. Football is my job, and only the here and now counts, the next match, and I am not hired to think about what's next for me. Barcelona are a grate club, and things can change until the summer."
