Rayo Vallecano 'humiliated' after Real Madrid defeat, says boss Paco Jemez

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez claimed his side felt "humiliated" and "abused" after their 10-2 loss to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, and called the lopsided scoreline a black eye for Spanish football.

Gareth Bale scored four times, Karim Benzema netted a hat trick, Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a brace and Danilo added one as Real just missed out on their record victory -- an 11-1 triumph over Barcelona in the 1940s -- in the rout of nine-man Rayo in Madrid.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS after the thrashing, Jemez called the game a "disgrace" for all involved.

"We feel humiliated and abused. This doesn't benefit Madrid, or us or Spanish football. We've lost a lot of credibility," Jemez said.

"Today, nobody won, we all lost. It's shameful, a disgrace. "These are things which happen and I hope that we don't see it happening again anywhere else."

Jemez admitted he'd never been a part of such an uneven match, and didn't know how to address his players after Sunday's embarrassment.

"It's been a long time since I've seen anything so weird and embarrassing," Jemez continued. "My first reaction is to give my support to the players who made a great effort today. It's difficult to console them because they feel completely humiliated and trampled on.

"I cannot be any clearer than that -- whoever wants to understand me will understand.

"The majority of the people here didn't like what they were seeing -- how can something like this happen in 'the best league in the world?' It shouldn't happen anywhere.

"There were moments when it just seemed surreal. And now when you see blokes crying buckets, it's not because they put 10 goals past us but for what went on."

Asked for his comments, Real boss Rafael Benitez said heavy losses are all part of football.

Said Benitez: "There have been plenty of games where we have been on the receiving end of situations that didn't benefit us. I didn't say anything then and I'm not going to now. As the manager I have to get the team to score goals and play well and we'll concentrate on that."
