Neymar's seized Porsche stuck in Brazil court battle, report says

A Porsche Panamera that Neymar won in a bet with his dad in 2011 was seized by the Brazilian Internal Revenue Service in 2014 because of alleged irregularities regarding its import into the country by a third-party company and is to remain in the domain of the government until the case is resolved in court, according to a report published in Tuesday's Folha do S. Paulo.

Neymar Sport, the Barcelona player's image-rights agency in Brazil, also said on Tuesday via statement that any violations of Brazilian law on the import were committed by the third party, First S/A, with neither the player nor the agency aware of the import process.

Neymar Sport recently won an appeal to prevent the Porsche from going to auction until the court resolves the case, according to the report.

The 2011 Porsche Panamera, which was promised to him by his father if Brazil won the 2011 under-20 South American Championships and he finished as the top scorer, was imported by a third party, Select Import to the company, First S/A, using a process that is common in Brazil's import business, Luiz Venturi, a lawyer specialising in foreign trade told the newspaper.

The original color of the vehicle was white, but the player had it customised yellow.

Neymar Sport, in a statement responding the the newspaper report, claim they were victim's of the third-party process and unaware that it violated the tax and import laws.

Neymar's tax and business affairs are also under scrutiny at present -- with a Brazilian court alleging he and his father had evaded almost €14 million in taxes between 2011 and 2013.

The legal case regarding a potential fraud in Neymar's move to the Catalan court in summer 2013 also remains under investigation. That case was also moved from Madrid to Barcelona, in a ruling made last May.
