Marseille dump Juventus in friendly, Atletico Madrid win on penalties

New signing Sami Khedira was carried off on a stretcher with a hamstring injury and Stephan Lichtsteiner saw red as Juventus slumped to a 2-0 loss against Marseille in Saturday's friendly fixture.

Romain Alessandrini and Abdelaziz Barrada collected the critical goals for the Ligue 1 side.

Khedira was taken off after 25 minutes and is a doubt for Juve's Supercoppa Italiana match with Lazio in China next week.

Atletico Madrid overcame Japanese side Sagan Tosu 4-1 on penalties.

Koke was on target for the Liga club before the game went to extra time and then spot kicks, with Diego Simeone's side emerging as the victors.

Goals from Adrian Ramos and Oliver Kirch sealed a 2-0 triumph for Thomas Tuchel's Borussia Dortmund versus Real Betis, while Iker Casillas played the hero as Porto overcame Valencia, 5-4, in a penalty shootout.

Manchester City crashed to a 4-2 defeat to Stuttgart as their preseason fixtures ended with a shambolic defensive display.

City were 4-0 down after 36 minutes. Filip Kostic, Daniel Didavi and Daniel Ginczek, with a swift brace, scored for Stuttgart, who only finished 14th in the Bundesliga last season, as City conceded four goals in a game for the second time in preseason. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho found the net with six minutes to go before Raheem Sterling teed up Edin Dzeko for a tap-in.

Liverpool ended their preseason preparations with a 2-0 win over HJK Helsinki.

The game was scoreless at half-time, but Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho scored five minutes apart to give Brendan Rodgers' men a boost as they head into the Premier League season.

Sporting cruised to a 2-0 defeat of Serie A runners-up Roma.

Second-half goals from Islam Slimani and Carlos Mane paced the Portuguese side past the Romans, who lost Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to a red card in the 90th minute.

Stoke suffered a 2-1 loss against Cologne as a late goal from Yannick Gerhardt clinched victory.

Anthony Modeste opened the scoring for Cologne, Peter Odemwingie levelled but Gerhardt netted in the 88th minute to secure a 2-1 win.

Bayer Leverkusen beat Chievo 3-1, Thorgan Hazard's goal handed Borussia Monchengladbach a 1-0 win over Newcastle while Fulham drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace.

Claudio Ranieri's Leicester fought back from two goals down to win 3-2 versus Birmingham with Shinji Okazaki grabbing the decisive goal.

Premier League new boys Bournemouth played out a goalless draw with Hoffenheim, Everton were beaten 2-0 by Leeds while Kike's goal was the difference as Middlesbrough overcame Getafe 1-0.

Scott Sinclair netted a hat trick for Aston Villa but it was not enough as Tim Sherwood's men drew 3-3 with Nottingham Forest while Norwich beat Brentford 2-1 with Cameron Jerome and Wes Hoolahan on the scoresheet.

Swansea and Deportivo La Coruna settled for a goalless draw, while Jeremain Lens' 75th-minute strike gave Sunderland a 1-0 victory against Hannover.
