Carvajal shrugs off Pique Treble party joke over Cristiano Ronaldo birthday

Dani Carvajal has said he was not offended by Gerard Pique's joke about Real Madrid as Barcelona celebrated winning the Treble on Sunday.

Pique had made reference to Cristiano Ronaldo's 30th birthday in January, when Real Madrid players faced criticism for enjoying a party involving reggaeton performer Kevin Roldan the night after a 4-0 defeat to city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to supporters on Sunday after Barca's season concluded with success in the Champions League final over Juventus, Pique joked: "Thanks to the technical team, the physios, the club medical staff, the fans... and thanks to Kelvin Roldan -- it all started with you!"

Real Madrid full-back Carvajal, speaking after arriving for duty with the Spanish national team, played down the controversy.

"I don't feel that these Piques comments are offensive," he told reporters.

Roldan responded to Pique's comments via Twitter, saying: "Do not confuse knowing my name with knowing me."

Real Madrid sacked coach Carlo Ancelotti and replaced him with Rafa Benitez after Real failed to defend their Champions League trophy this season, with Los Blancos forced to watch Luis Enrique celebrate a historic second Treble for the Blaugrana in his first season in charge at the Camp Nou.
