Granero quits QPR for Real Sociedad

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that QPR midfielder Esteban Granero has joined Real Sociedad on a four-year deal.

Granero, 27, made 28 appearances for QPR in all competitions, scoring one goal, since moving to Loftus Road in 2012. But he has not cemented his place at the London side and has now opted to move back to Spain.

"[Chief executive] Philip Beard did the deal at the weekend," Redknapp said on Monday. "I think Esteban is going back and I wish him well. He's a great lad -- a fantastic boy."

A QPR statement read: "The club would like to thank Esteban for his contribution during his time at Loftus Road and wish him well for the future.''

The former Spain under-21 international almost joined Sevilla after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid -- where he won one La Liga title during a three-year spell -- before opting to join QPR on a reported four million euros annual salary.

He was loaned to Sociedad last season, but featured only seven times after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
