Malaga have named Javi Gracia as their new coach on a two-year contract.

Gracia, who will be presented by the Andalusian club next Tuesday, replaces Bernd Schuster, who recently left Malaga after just one season in charge.

The 44-year-old Gracia was in charge of Osasuna last term, but was unable to save his home-town club from relegation. He was previously coach at Almeria, Cadiz and Greek side Olympiakos Volou, while as a player he represented Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Real Valladolid.

Former Real Madrid boss Schuster announced earlier this month that he would be leaving his post at the end of the season after being told by Malaga his services were no longer required.

The 54-year-old German took charge on a five-year deal last June, replacing Manuel Pellegrini, but results have been inconsistent and they finished the campaign in 11th spot, having finished sixth last season and fourth in 2012.
