Former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Villas-Boas took over at Russian Premier League leaders Zenit St Petersburg at the end of March and has led them to five wins in five games.

But with Martino struggling to live up to expectations at the Camp Nou, where they have exited the Champions League to Atletico Madrid, lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Madrid and look unlikely to retain La Liga. However, Villas-Boas is insistent he is happy at Zenit.

"All the rumours about my negotiations with Barcelona are completely groundless," Villas-Boas said.

"I've signed the contract with Zenit and I'm set to stay here until its expiry date.

"My work with Zenit is my top priority."

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has said that no decision on Martino’s future will be made until the end of the season when talks will be held.

Bartomeu told TV3: "We have a lot of respect for Martino, we still have five games left in the league and it is our responsibility to be competitive and keep up the pressure on the leaders.

"A few days after that, I'll be speaking personally to Tata Martino about other things."
