Real not planning to replace Khedira

Real Madrid will not use the January transfer window to replace the injured Sami Khedira, with coach Carlo Ancelotti insisting he has a number of back-up players suited to the midfielder's role.

Brazilian Casemiro has been firmly tipped to be given his chance with Khedira ruled out for a majority of the season after tearing cruciate ligaments in his knee during Germany's 1-1 draw with Italy on Friday.

FIFA to compensate Real
Train: Casemiro's chance

Real will receive compensation from FIFA to the tune of 2.5 million euros under the Club Protection Programme, making it easier for Los Blancos to sign a new player in the winter window.

But Ancelotti, speaking at the launch of his new book in Madrid, is confident Real already have adequate cover within their ranks.

"We don't have any plans to sign anyone during the winter transfer window," he said. "We have two options. One is to use a player with a similar style and the other is to change our system.

"I think I need to think about this, and we have players who at the moment have not played, but are in good shape like Casemiro.

"Isco has played some matches in the middle of a three-man midfield, although he is more comfortable playing behind the forwards.

"I might be able to go with two midfielders and Isco a little further forward. Pepe and (Sergio) Ramos are central defenders."
