Agent: Demichelis keen on Atletico

Martin Demichelis’ agent says his client would like to leave Malaga and join Atletico Madrid.

Demichelis, one of a number of high-earners leaving Malaga this summer as the club’s Qatari owners’ ‘downsize' their project, is available on a free transfer as his contract ends on June 30.

The former Argentina international defender, is currently considering various offers for next season, but Atletico’s looked the most enticing, his representative, Jorge Cyterszpiler, revealed to AS.

“Martin views positively the possibility of playing at Atletico, but everything depends on whether an agreement can be reached,” Cyterszpiler said. “He has various offers, from many places, but it is true that Atletico is in his plans, it is a great club."

The 32-year-old’s former team-mates Joaquin Sanchez and Manuel Iturra both left Malaga on Wednesday, with the Spanish attacker set to join Fiorentina and the Chilean midfielder moving to Granada.

Jeremy Toulalan, Isco, Julio Baptista and Willy Caballero are among the other stars of last season's successful Champions League campaign currently weighing up offers from elsewhere.
