Higuain agent: Juventus deal not done
The agent of Gonzalo Higuain has played down suggestions that the Argentina international has agreed a deal with Juventus, insisting negotiations to leave Real Madrid have not yet begun.
Higuain, 25, has been heavily linked with the Serie A champions, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting on Thursday that Nicolas Higuain, the striker's brother and agent, had met with Juve officials in Madrid and agreed personal terms for a transfer.
But Nicolas told Marca that he has only begun preliminary talks with Juventus and will wait until Real determine Jose Mourinho's successor at the Bernabeu before officially asking for a release.
"Nothing has been concluded with Juventus," he said. "The player is still contracted to Real Madrid so the first things we have to do is meet with them. But the club need to firstly understand who will be their next coach."
Argentinean legend Diego Maradona, who was awarded the Capocannoniere (Serie A top scorer) with Napoli in 1987-88, has backed Higuain to benefit from a move to Turin.
"If Higuain becomes a Juventus player and gets regular first team action, I am convinced that he can win the Capocannoniere trophy next season," Maradona told Tuttosport.
