Granada came from a goal down to sink promoted Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 and get off to a winning start under new coach Joaquin Caparros.

The visitors took the lead in the first half through Ivan Cavaleiro, aided by some suspect goalkeeping from Stole Dimitrievski, but Ruben Rochina levelled 10 minutes into the second half before Jean Sylvain Babin put the hosts in front.

Making their return to Spain's top flight after suffering relegation 14 months earlier, Depor made a strong start to the game and could have taken the lead early on when Luis Farina raced through the defence and into the area, but the Argentinian was foiled by Dimitrievski.

But the Macedonian stopper, who was making his debut for Granada's first team, would have wanted the ground to swallow him up in the 20th minute, when he allowed Cavaleiro's tame shot to slip through his arms and into the net.

Granada did not wilt after going behind, though, and Diego Mainz came within inches of sliding home a cross from Youssef El Arabi.

They came out even stronger after the break and it was not long before they were level.

Former Blackburn Rovers forward Rochina picked the ball up 30 yards from goal and brought it towards the left-hand side of the area before driving a low shot past Depor stopper German Lux, who got a hand to the effort but was unable to keep it out.

The goal was Granada's first shot on target but gave them renewed confidence, and moments later Lux was forced into action again, coming out to claw away a dangerous cross.

The goalkeeper made a mess the next time he had to deal with a ball into his box, however, and defender Babin out-jumped him to head Fran Rico's lofted free-kick high into the net.

The Galicians were unable to respond in the remaining 13 minutes and look in desperate need of strengthening if they are to avoid a quick return to the Segunda Division.
