Real Madrid, Atletico and Barcelona given comfortable Copa del Rey draw

Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and holders Barcelona will start their Copa del Rey campaigns against third-tier clubs.

Real will travel to the town of Leon, in north west Spain, to face Cultural Leonesa on Oct. 26 and then play the return leg on Nov. 30 to make room in the calendar to play at the Club World Cup.

Barca have won three of the last five Copas and will travel to Alicante to take on Hercules in the round of 32.

They and the rest of the teams will play their first legs on Nov. 30 and the return legs on Dec. 21.

Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid visit Salamanca-based club CD Guijuelo while Sevilla, who lost last season's final to Barca 2-0, will play at fourth-division side SD Formentera.

This round is the first to include the 20 La Liga teams. It will include four direct matchups between top-flight clubs: Leganes vs Valencia; Real Betis vs. Deportivo La Coruna; Sporting Gijon vs Eibar; Granada vs Osasuna.

Real last won the Copa in the 2013-14 campaign.

Los Blancos were expelled from last season's Copa for fielding ineligible player Denis Cheryshev in their last 32 clash against Cadiz.
