Javi Martinez to miss Spain qualifiers due to thigh injury

Spain will be without Javi Martinez for World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Albania due to injury, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said on Monday.

The RFEF said the Bayern Munich defender injured his left adductor and the club informed the federation of the injury.

"The medical staff of the German club informed RFEF of the discomfort the player suffers currently," the federation statement said.

"This morning, ahead of the training camp, medical tests were carried out where it was confirmed the player has a torn adductor on the left hamstring, whereby it has been decided it is best for him to miss the upcoming games."

Real Sociedad's Inigo Martínez was called up on Sunday by Spain manager Julen Lopetegui to replace the injured player.
