Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos pulls out of Spain squad with back injury

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is to miss Sunday's international friendly against Romania with a back injury.

Ramos suffered the problem in Thursday night's 1-1 draw with Italy and will therefore not travel to Cluj-Napoca for this weekend's game.

A statement from the Spanish FA read: "Sergio Ramos has left the squad on Friday morning after lumber pains that prevented him from playing the second half against Italy yesterday.

"Ramos will return to Spain today, while the national team continues to prepare for the second friendly that will take place on Sunday in Cluj against Romania."

Ramos is set to be a key member of the Spain squad in France this summer as he seeks to win his third consecutive European Championship.

The 29-year-old central defender, who was named captain of Madrid last summer, has made 131 appearances for his country, scoring 10 goals.

Meanwhile, Romania have announced that FC Nurnberg defender Laszlo Sepsi will miss the game against Spain through injury.

Romanian football federation (FRF) gave no details on the injury but said he had returned to his club for treatment.
