Cesc Fabregas: Luis Aragones questioned my attitude for Spain

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has told Goal of the effect the late Luis Aragones had on him when he was in charge of Spain.

Former Spain coach Aragones died at the age of 75 in February 2014, having led the nation to glory at Euro 2008.

Fabregas played under Aragones at the tournament, and the playmaker has revealed he once "grabbed me by the neck and started shouting at me."

"He is a person who left a big mark on me, both mentally and psychologically," Fabregas said.

The former Barcelona recalled when he came off the bench against Russia at the tournament in Austria-Switzerland, assisted David Villa and then got himself on the scoresheet in a 4-1 win.

Fabregas said: "The day after the games, we would usually go out for a walk out on the pitch while Aragones gave us a talk about the match from the previous day.

"The first thing he said was that my attitude had been shameless and he tore into me for that. That got to me a lot. And even though I never knew if he did it intentionally, I ended up having a fantastic Euros."

Fabregas is set to line up for Vicente del Bosque's Spain in France this summer when they look to win the European Championship for a third time in a row.
