Filip Djuricic yet to sign Southampton loan, depite reports

Southampton remain interested in Benfica's attacking midfielder Filip Djuricic, but reports of a confirmed loan deal are premature.

A statement on the Serbia Football Association's official Facebook page suggested a six-month deal had been agreed, crediting a report from national broadcaster B92, whose headquarters are in Belgrade.

It had been suggested the move was confirmed by Southampton on their own official website, which was incorrect.

Press Association reported the Premier League club are keen on the player, but any imminent deal appears unlikely following issues over Djuricic's representatives.

Djuricic spent the first part of the season on loan at German Bundesliga side Mainz but has not played since Dec. 13, with matches to resume this weekend following the winter break.

The 22-year-old began his career at Red Star Belgrade and was signed by Benfica from Heerenveen for 4.5 million pounds in July 2013.

Djuricic has 19 caps for Serbia and scored twice against Scotland in their World Cup qualifier in March 2013.
