Hazard, Van Dijk picked for FIFA 20 covers

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard will be on the front cover of EA Sports' FIFA 20, which will be released on Sept. 27.

Just once in the previous seven installments of the famous football video game has someone other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo graced the cover -- Marco Reus in FIFA 17. But there are now fresh faces to join the fold.

Following his big-money move from Chelsea to Real Madrid, Hazard is now the face of the FIFA 20 Standard Edition. Truly a Galactico signing for both Los Blancos and EA.

"EA Sports FIFA is the biggest football game on the planet, and I have been playing it for years against my brothers," Hazard said in a statement. "I am lucky to have been on the cover before but to be on FIFA 20 globally is amazing and I hope to excite as many gamers as I do when I take the field for Real Madrid this season."

But he's not the only one whose face will be on the front of the latest edition of FIFA.

After running Manchester City to the wire in the Premier League title race, lifting the Champions League, and being in contention as the first defender to win the Ballon d'Or since Fabio Cannavaro in 2006, Van Dijk seems a fitting model to feature on the FIFA 20 Champions Edition, which is available via presale three days before the standard edition of the game.

"It is a huge honour for me to be on the cover of FIFA 20," Van Dijk said in a statement. "I've been playing FIFA for as long as I can remember, and so it's an extremely proud moment for me to be representing Liverpool FC on the cover of such an iconic game."
