Arsene Wenger believes Jamie Vardy will reject Arsenal, stay at Leicester

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expects Jamie Vardy to stay at Leicester City and reject a move to the Gunners.

Wenger's comments come after Leicester owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said Vardy will stay with the Premier League champions, but the player himself refused to disclose any details about his future.

When asked at a news conference ahead of England's European Championship clash with Slovakia on Monday, Vardy said he remained "completely focused" on the tournament in France.

Asked about bringing Vardy to Arsenal, Wenger told desports: "No, no. Jamie Vardy is at the moment at Leicester, and on what I know he will stay at Leicester."

The Gunners activated a £22 million release clause in the 29-year-old's contract but Vardy chose to suspend a decision until after Euro 2016, choosing to focus on England before deciding his future at club level.

He has been named on the bench for both of England's Group B games but scored in the 2-1 win against Wales after coming on at half-time.
