Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona reports played down

Borussia Dortmund have once again dismissed rumours about star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future following fresh reports that European champions Barcelona are keen on the player.

Aubameyang, 26, has been in sensational form this campaign -- breaking a Bundesliga record by scoring in each of Dortmund's first eight league matches.

The Gabon international was also Dortmund's top scorer last season with 25 goals in all competitions.

In the wake of reported interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, the German club extended the striker's contract in July with a view to keeping him there until 2020.

On Monday, Catalan paper El Mundo Deportivo suggested that Aubameyang's development has impressed Barcelona, who are currently without injured front man Lionel Messi for two months.

Barcelona are not allowed to sign any players until January of next year as part of a transfer ban and, according to the paper, Aubameyang would be more of a long-term target for the Spanish club.

But Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc says that Thomas Tuchel's side are not willing to part with the former Saint-Etienne player.

"We're clearly planning with Auba," he told Bild.

Aubameyang is in his third season at Dortmund, who paid a reported €13 million to sign him in July 2013.
